  • A well-known example with known ownership history since new
  • One of 50 examples built and fewer than 10 known survivors
  • Award-winning, sympathetic restoration in original colors
  • Featured in Angelo Van Bogart’s Cadillac: 100 Years of Innovation

With its 138-inch-wheelbase chassis and luxurious Fleetwood “semi-custom” bodies, shared with the upper-level V-12 and V-16 models, the Series 75 was as large and lush as a V-8-powered Cadillac could get in 1937. Among the scarcer variations was the five-passenger convertible sedan, of which only 50 were made.

Reportedly this particular Series 75 convertible sedan was produced for display at the 1936 New York Auto Show, finished in Admiral Blue with Antique Blue leather upholstery. It was sold off the show floor to a wealthy lady, who had homes in both California and Manhattan; she left the Cadillac in the Big Apple, where it was maintained by her chauffeur and used during her regular visits. The lady sold the Cadillac in 1954 to an early enthusiast in Chicago, in whose ownership it remained until 1999. While it was very seldom shown, it was always well preserved and remained remarkably rust-free and solid throughout, with its original paint and Haartz cloth top reportedly still intact.

New owner Jim LoCicero then restored the Cadillac beautifully; it was in such fine shape that the body did not have to be removed from the frame, only refinished and properly re-trimmed, using the correct materials throughout. It proceeded to win many awards all over the United States, including a Cadillac-LaSalle Club First Place in 2003, and was featured in Angelo Van Bogart’s book, Cadillac: 100 Years of Innovation.

More recently, the car has continued to prove its fitness for both highway and show field, scoring 98 points at the CCCA Ohio Region Grand Classic in June 2016, and completing an extended tour. It is in superb order throughout and an ideal acquisition for the most devout Cadillac enthusiast’s stable.
